Members of the University of Florida chapter of Alpha Psi, a veterinary fraternity, made a personal delivery of toys, games, books, and movies to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital on Oct. 18th.

Fraternity members had held a fund raising event at Tall Paul’s Brew House to make the $250 gift possible.

“The gift was in the spirit of the fraternity’s mission to promote charity and community outreach among veterinary professionals,” said Alpha Psi’s UF chapter president, Timothy Queeney, a senior veterinary student.

“Representatives from Shands were very appreciative of Alpha Psi’s gesture as well as the items, which were selected from the hospital’s Amazon wish list,” Queeney said.

Queeney and Alpha Psi’s logistics chairperson, Brett Zielinski, also a sophomore UF veterinary student, toured the children’s hospital after making the delivery and meeting some of the staff.

“A huge ‘thank you’ to Alpha Psi Veterinary Fraternity for their donations to the UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital,” said Jenny Guerette, a pediatric nurse at the hospital in an email to the group. “You guys are rock stars to the sick kids stuck in the hospital.”
