Around the college
A photo composite of Class of 2014 was on display during the senior exit breakfasts held over the past month.
Dr. Julia Conway, left, completed her term as Alumni Council chair on April 12 during the group’s most recent meeting and passed the gavel to Dr. Chris Sanchez. Dean Lloyd presented Conway with a plaque in appreciation for her service and acknowledged her new membership in the Dean’s Circle of Excellence. Sanchez will lead the group for a two-year term. Dr. Bobbi Conner received the “Golden Paw” award for her teaching tip, offered during the monthly meeting of the department of small animal clinical sciences. Conner recommended the book “Now You See It” by Cathy Davidson. (Photo by Sarah Carey)
Dr. Paul Nicoletti, a professor emeritus of infectious diseases at the college, is shown holding a framed commemorative coin created by financial guru Suze Orman. Orman, who spoke at last year’s UFCVM commencement, created the specially minted coin and presented one to each graduate and to a few others who helped with the event. Nicoletti had his framed and donated it to the college. The coin offers a twist on Orman’s motto — “People First, then Money, then Things.” Each coin is inscribed on one side with “Paws First, Then Money, Then Things” with “Suze Orman” on the bottom.
