Students build, donate dog houses to animal rescue groups
What canine do you know that wouldn’t want to hunker down in one of these dog houses? A group of UF veterinary students, who serve as representatives for Nestle Purina, came up with a project they felt would show their appreciation for area animal rescue groups. The company-funded project also served as a fun way for the reps to engage their classmates and incoming veterinary students in a meaningful cause.
- Participants in the Nestle Purina-sponsored Dog House painting event to benefit local animal rescue groups are shown at Westside Park the morning of Aug. 20.
- Purina student representatives Meaghan Callahan and Molly Bruce stand next to a house about to be painted.
- “Station 2018” was the first-place winning house. Shown are Amy Davis and Corinne Thompson (Heather Hoffman is at far right but not visible in this shot.)
- With the second-place house, “One Nation Under Dog,” are students Bryan Allen, Lia Missena and Jennifer Katona.
- The third-place house, “Surf Dog,” is shown with students Christa Barrett, Lauren Blackson and Kerrin Maillet.
- All of the house designs were both clever and colorful.
- Students spent several hours in the morning completing their houses.
- The event drew quite a crowd to Westside Park.
- What UF CVM student benefit would be complete without the Gator Chomp?
