This year’s Team VetMed cycling team raised $21,445 for veterinary medical student scholarships through the annual Horse Farm 100 bicycle ride on Oct. 25.

Approximately 45 riders joined together to raise money for the Dean’s Scholarship Endowment program for the UF College of Veterinary Medicine.  This fund provides scholarships for D.V.M. students.

The team split into two groups, a 100-mile group led by Dr. Alex Gallagher, and a 55-mile group led by Dr. Chris Sanchez and Dr. Terri Parrott, a UFCVM alumnus (’83).  All riders finished the course by 5 p.m.

UFCVM alumni challenged each other to raise the most sponsorship money.  Cindy Thomas, (86), and Larry Gainsburg, (’80) vied for first place, both raising more than $2,000 each.

Scholarships funded through TeamVetMed are awarded to several students who participate in team activities.
