Around the College
Veterinary technology students visited the UF Small Animal Hospital in January as participants in a program that allows students from regional veterinary technology programs to shadow UF veterinary nurses. In turn, the hospital provides the students with mentoring from experienced technicians, as well as a chance to see career path opportunities provided in a teaching hospital. Dot McColskey of the college’s Office for Students and Instruction provided an orientation tour of the UF Veterinary Hospitals on Jan. 12 to 15 students from Ross University and St. George’s University schools of veterinary medicine. These students will be finishing their clinical rotations at the UFCVM and the tour provided them with the opportunity to meet a few other students and to ask questions ranging from what time to show up to where to store that change of clothes to how to navigate. The snake was captive-bred and is owned by the Santa Fe Teaching Zoo, for which UF serves as veterinarian. (Photo by Sarah Carey)
