Several UFCVM students, faculty and residents participated in the annual Veterinary Orthopedic Society Conference, held in Snowbird, Utah, March 11-18.
“The UF small animal surgery service was well-represented,” said Dr. Dan Lewis, a professor of small animal surgery and associate department chair. “Two of our small animal surgery residents, Drs. Sarah Townsend and Ana Bascunan, presented podium presentations, and UF had a total of seven posters presented.”
Presenting posters associated with their research were Dr. Jason Coggeshall, a former orthopaedic research associate; Dr. Jo Anne Au Yong, a current orthopedic research associate, who gave two posters; Dr. Michelle Hasiuk, a small animal surgery intern, Lewis and two UFCVM students.
Riley Shugg and Sarah Lewis, both from the Class of 2019, each gave poster presentations, with Shugg receiving the award for “best poster” in the research category.
Shugg’s study evaluated circular fixator biomechanics.
