- A hawk rescued from a wildfire received treatment at UF’s Small Animal Hospital through the zoological medicine service. That story appeared in the Gainesville Sun and was also covered by WCJB-TV 20 News.
- The UF Veterinary Emergency Treatment Services team’s rescue of a pug that had fallen down a sinkhole in Gilchrist County appeared in the Gainesville Sun as a story and photo album (Photos courtesy of Brandi Phillips) and was subsequently picked up by the Associated Press. The story was also picked up by UPI. It ran in multiple news outlets, nationally and internationally, including the New York Post, the Tampa Bay Times, the Palm Beach Post, the Daily Mail, CBS Minnesota and elsewhere.
- The UF Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service also aided in the rescue of a cow, which was reunited with its calf on Mother’s Day weekend. That story was covered by the Gainesville Sun.
- Dr. Heather Walden, an assistant professor of parasitology at the college, was quoted in a CNN story focusing on a recent outbreak of rat lungworm in Hawaii.
- The UF CVM’s annual Open House event was covered by the Gainesville Sun and by the Independent Florida Alligator.
