  • WCJB-TV 20 ran a story about the UF Small Animal Hospital’s Canine Blood Donor Program.
  • A study that appeared in Environment International with authors including Dr. Nancy Denslow, Dr. Mike Walsh and graduate student Maite De Maria Mulet and reported finding chronic levels of glysophate in manatees received coverage in numerous outlets, including WINK News, NPR’s WMFE and elsewhere.
  • National Geographic quoted Dr. Mike Walsh in a story focusing on a spike in manatee deaths in 2021.
  • Horsetalk featured a new study in Animals by UF’s Dr. Caryn Plummer, Dr. Michelle Bustamante and others, focusing on sample storage techniques and their effect on equine fecal microbiota.
  • A story about UF veterinarians removing a shoe from the stomach of a crocodile, which drew international attention in February, continued to make news with a mention in the AAVMC Educator. 
  • The Gainesville Sun ran a story highlighting the UF Veterinary Emergency Treatment Service’s animal technical rescue branch and a training exercise the group performed with veterinary students rappelling in Ben Hill Griffin stadium.
  • The Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association wrote a story about a virtual panel event hosted by the Student Chapter of the AVMA, or SAVMA, in which new graduates were connected with 2021 graduates. Included in the panel was Dr. Perry Koehler, a Cornell College of Veterinary graduate who is now performing a rotating internship in medicine and surgery at UF.
  • Veterinary Information Network, or VIN, featured UF veterinary student Hira Basit in an article focusing on the new generation of veterinarians launching organizations aimed at enhancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the veterinary profession.
