The UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s newest recipients of endowed professorships were honored recently at the traditional UF Health “Celebrating Distinction” ceremony.

Dr. Adesola Odunayo, a clinical associate professor of emergency and critical care at the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, was recognized as the inaugural recipient of the Michael Schaer Professorship in Small Animal Medicine and Critical Care Medicine — the first endowed professorship established at the college in support of a clinical faculty member and the first to carry the name of a faculty member. The donors who endowed this professorship are Dr. Larry Dee and his wife, Rita.

Honored as the recipient of the Grevior Shelter Medicine Community Outreach Professorship was Dr. Simone Guerios, a clinical associate professor of shelter medicine and coordinator of the Veterinary Community Outreach Program clerkship. In her position, she focuses on training and educating students to prepare them for shelter medicine practice. Barbara Grevior and the late Arnold Grevior donated the funds to support this professorship.

We are grateful to our supporters and these deserving faculty for their great work at the college and the many animals they serve.
