College’s annual Open House to be held April 6

Open House 2024: Save the date graphicMark your calendars: The UF College of Veterinary Medicine will host its popular open house event this year on April 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., promising a full day of educational demonstrations, tours and much more for people of all ages.

This free event, to be held at the college, 2015 SW 16th Ave., Gainesville, is organized by third-year UF veterinary students with support from the college and various sponsors. Snacks and College of Veterinary Medicine merchandise will be available for purchase, with the proceeds benefiting UF veterinary students.

Numerous educational exhibits will take place throughout the day and activities are still being finalized. Many of the talks and demonstrations will highlight various techniques used by UF veterinarians to treat animals. Pre-veterinary school advisory sessions will be held at different times throughout the day.

There will be a food truck rally featuring local eateries, games and souvenirs. Children can also bring their torn stuffed animals for repair at a teddy bear clinic.

Honey was a certified medical service dog who had been a patient at UF’s Small Animal Hospital. She provided lifesaving support to her now-deceased owner, a veteran, for many years.
