Hundreds attend Referring Veterinarian Appreciation Day
The UF College of Veterinary Medicine hosted its annual Referring Veterinarian Appreciation Day on June 17, with more than 326 clinicians attending. According to survey results, clinicians came from all over the state.
RDVM Day, as it’s known informally, is an opportunity for veterinarians to obtain mandatory continuing education credits, learn about the latest medical advances and gain practical experience. Alumni from the college are able to reconnect with classmates, faculty and staff. Small and large animal-oriented lectures were broken down into morning and afternoon sessions. Faculty topics ranged from heart murmurs in cats, pitfalls in adrenal gland surgery and updates in canine influenza to updates in equine ophthalmology, joint therapy and melanoma treatment.
Attendees enjoyed Sponsor Bingo between sessions and tables filled up quickly for Lunch with a Specialist. Afternoon sessions concluded with Pharmacology and a First Aid/CPR wet lab followed by a BBQ dinner hosted by the Dean’s Circle of Excellence.
“Be sure to mark your calendars for RDVM Day in June 2018,” said Dr. Michael Schaer, professor emeritus and an adjunct professor of small animal emergency and critical care and interim chair of the department of comparative, diagnostic and population medicine. “Our faculty are looking forward to presenting more clinical pearls.”
